Removing the Navee Speed Limit: Cable, Chip or License Code?

by E-Scooter Unlock on Oct 05, 2026
Navee Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzung aufheben: Kabel, Chip oder Lizenzcode

If you want to remove the speed limit on your Navee e-scooter, you'll mainly find three approaches online: cutting or bridging cables, hardware modules and software unlocking with a licence code. In this guide we compare the methods objectively – without DIY instructions, but with an honest assessment.

Method 1: cutting or bridging cables

Forums are full of guides in which individual wires on the scooter are cut or bridged. The problem:

  • The scooter has to be opened.
  • Incorrectly cut wires can damage the electronics and controller.
  • The intervention can usually only be undone cleanly with effort, if at all.
  • A visible intervention in the wiring can raise guarantee and warranty issues.

Method 2: chip or controller swap

Here, additional or modified hardware is installed. That means fitting effort, costs for parts and, in many cases, opening the scooter as well. Not every solution fits every model variant.

Method 3: licence code via software

With the tuning licence code for Navee & Brightway, the electronic limit is adjusted via Bluetooth:

  • No opening, no cables, no chip – the scooter stays in its original condition.
  • Setup in about one minute using an Android smartphone.
  • Button combination: the unlock is activated directly on the scooter and ends when you switch it off.
  • Automatic return: the original mode is active after every restart.

The comparison at a glance

Cable Chip / controller Licence code
Open the scooter yes usually yes no
Risk to electronics high medium low
Undoing it difficult removal needed automatic after restart
Effort high high approx. 1 minute setup

Which Navee models are supported?

  • Navee ST3 / ST3 Pro – up to approx. 40 km/h (ST3 guide)
  • Navee GT3 Max / GT3 Pro – up to approx. 32 km/h (to the licence code)
  • Navee GT5 Max – up to approx. 32 km/h
  • Navee N65i – up to approx. 32 km/h (to the licence code)
  • Navee XT5 Max / XT5 Pro – up to approx. 32 km/h (to the licence code)

All values are guide values. The unlock changes the electronic limit, not the motor power.

Requirements

  • Android smartphone with Bluetooth and internet (no iPhone/iPad)
  • Ideally a scooter with the original controller, dashboard and firmware – with custom firmware or replaced electronics, activation cannot be guaranteed

Important legal notice

Our tuning licence codes are intended for hobby and sport riders who use their vehicle on closed-off private property or suitable tracks – with the consent of the owner or operator.

In Austria and Germany, a vehicle modified in this way is not approved for use on public roads. The operating permit or type approval and insurance cover become void, and possibly your entitlement to ride it as well; the manufacturer's guarantee may lapse.

In other countries, please check the legal situation yourself beforehand. There, too, you should generally assume that use on public roads is not permitted. Always wear a helmet and protective clothing at higher speeds.

Navee and Brightway are trademarks of their respective owners. We are not affiliated with the manufacturer; our licence code is compatible with the models mentioned but is not an official manufacturer product.
